The week of the Salone del Mobile is particularly intense for Milan. Hundreds of events are organised all over the city, public transport is full, traffic is hellish, restaurants are super-booked, hotel and flat prices shoot up. But Milan is still almost always sold out and finding a place to sleep or eat becomes a feat.
Here are our tips for preparing for the Salone del Mobile 2027, scheduled from 13 to 18 April, in conjunction with Design Week.

Book early: cheap rooms are few and far between
To enjoy Milan Design Week to the fullest, it is essential to book accommodation well in advance. If you wait too long, finding nice accommodation at reasonable prices becomes a mission impossible. Ideally, you should book as early as February to avoid surprises and to guarantee you a comfortable place close to the main events.
Stress-free travel planning
Getting around Milan during Design Week can be tricky, so it’s best to plan your trip in advance. Forget the private car: traffic is a nightmare and parking spaces are scarce.
Opt instead for the train or plane and take advantage of the city’s public transport, which works very well. Metro, trams and buses will take you wherever you want to go without stress.

The area is famous for events such as Tortona Rocks and the Superdesign Show. Every year, this neighbourhood is transformed into a veritable laboratory of creativity.

Getting around Milan during Design Week may seem complicated, but with a few tips it becomes child’s play. Milan Design Week is an event that attracts thousands of visitors, so it is important to know how to get around without stress.
Using public transport
Public transport is the best choice for getting around the city. The metro, trams and buses cover all the main areas and allow you to easily reach the various events. Remember that to go to the Fair, you will need a special ticket.
Renting scooters and bicycles
If you prefer a more ecological and fun option, you can rent scooters and bicycles. There are many rental stations scattered around the city, allowing you to move quickly between events. Just be careful not to park them wildly!

Between brochures, catalogues and small gadgets, you will accumulate a lot of material. Take a light and roomy shopping bag with you to collect everything without hassle. This allows you to keep your hands free and move more nimbly between events.

Milan Design Week is a sea of opportunities, with some 1300 events scattered throughout the city. To avoid wasting time and energy, plan your visits by neighbourhood. Devote a day to Brera, another to Tortona and so on. This will help you optimise your movements and enjoy each district to the full.
How to avoid crowds
To best enjoy the Salone del Mobile without stress, we recommend visiting the pavilions on weekdays and arriving early in the morning. Use public transport to get to Fiera Milano Rho and download the official app to stay updated on events and timetables. Remember, the Salone is vast and requires at least a full day to explore thoroughly. Keep a quick pace to avoid missing the most important things!
