The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a covered and prestigious passage that connects Piazza Duomo to Piazza della Scala, inside there are bars, restaurants, and luxury boutiques of the most important fashion brands. The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a relatively recent construction, dating back to the nineteenth century and was created to connect Piazza Duomo to Piazza della Scala, initially only a wide and comfortable road was planned which then evolved into the gallery.

A fashionable passage, with glass and iron cover, inspired by the famous Galerie Vivienne in Paris and Burlington Arcade in London. The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele consists of the main arm (196.6 meters) that connects the two prestigious squares, and a short one (105.1 meters), in their intersection is the dome, made of iron and glass, which returns a very suggestive atmosphere.

In the central part, from where the four arms depart, there are four coats of arms or lunettes, inside which the four continents are depicted: Europe, America, Asia and Africa. The paintings were made by four different painters: the Casnedi, the Pagliano, the Giuliano and the Pietrasanta. The gallery floor is made of marble, in the part corresponding to the dome we find some mosaics representing the Savoy coat of arms and on the sides, there are the coats of arms of the cities that in different times were the capitals of the Kingdom of Italy: Milan, Turin, Florence, and Rome.
A nice curiosity concerns the emblem of Turin, the “legend” says it brings good luck to rest the heel of the right foot on the genitals of the bull and rotate three times on themselves. In the Gallery there are the most luxurious boutiques, ancient bookshops and prestigious restaurants.
